Christchurch offers an extensive range of recreational and sporting experiences at a variety of locations throughout the city to encourage people to participate in, and enjoy physical recreation and sport.
Christchurch is the destination for many sporting events and is fortunate to have a number of international standard facilities such as Queen Elizabeth II Park, the Westpac Arena: sports and entertainment centre, the world-class Christchurch Convention Centre and the adjacent performing arts complex at the Town Hall.
There are currently four (soon to be five) major recreation and sport centres offering a selection of swimming pools, fitness centres, stadiums and a variety of recreational programmes and activities.
